a major heath concern. As stated in the Pool Rules,
“Fairfax County Health regulations dictate that pools must be closed,
super-chlorinated and cleaned when contaminated with human waste. It is the
responsibility of members to attend to personal needs and hygiene accordingly
to avoid closure of the pool. Fairfax County requires pools to be closed for
two (2), up to sixteen (16) hours, based on the level of contamination.” RELATED LINKS: Register/Renew Burke Centre Pool Membership Existing Mokoapp Pool Members Pool Rates 2023 Pool Rules 2023 Pool Calendar 2023 (updated 8/15/23) Special Notice re: Pool Hours, effective 8/21/23: AtlanticPool Service, Inc. ("Atlantic") has enough lifeguard staff to operate the five Burke Centre pools during the normal operating hours through August 20, 2023. During the time period of August 21 to September 4, there will only be enough staff available to operate the Commons, Landings, Oaks, and Woods pools from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Fairfax County public school days, which begin on August 21, 2023 (the Oaks pool will close at 7:00 pm due to the lack of underwater lights in the pool). Atlantic will be able to continue operating these pools during normal hours on non-school days during the period from August 21 to Labor Day. Atlantic anticipates being able to continue operating the Ponds pool during its normal hours of 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Atlantic is working to find additional staff members, but there is an incredible lack of labor available since most college-aged lifeguards have left for college, and Fairfax County Schools begins classes on August 21. Fairfax County High Schools do not release students until 2:55 pm daily. This prevents the lifeguards from arriving at the pools by the normal opening time of 3:00 pm. during Public School days. (Our situation this year is not dissimilar from the last 2 years. Atlantic also had agreed to open the four pools from 4 pm to 8 pm instead of 3 pm to 7 pm in 2021 and 2022.) |
